The history behind developing KurdAI

Conceptualization and developing KurdAI has been a labor of love, interest, and deep respect for all mother languages and lullabies across the world. It's a platform born from the heart, with a profound commitment to preserving and promoting the richness of our linguistic heritage.

 

Our platform is built on a solid foundation of expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning (ML), and Artificial Intelligence (AI). We've developed bespoke ML-AI pipelines specifically tailored to the Kurdish language and its dialects. Currently Kurdish-Sorani and Kurdish-Kurmanji are ready at their beta version and will develop, upgrade and correct the algorithms as actively as we can. KurdAI is deeply grateful for the wealth of open-source tools and resources made available by the global fair AI community. Their contributions have been invaluable in our journey.

Inspiration for KurdAI has come from many sources, including platforms like Lexilogos, Meta's translator AI tools, fine-tuned models from OpenAI, and user-friendly ML model wrapping tools like Gradio. Each has played a part in shaping our approach to language translation and AI. KurdAI believes in collaboration with all languages worldwide, particularly those under pressure from assimilation. In this new era of AI progress, we hope to see all languages thrive equally, benefiting from each other more than ever before. Together, we can ensure that every language has a voice in the digital world.

About the founder

KurdAI platform has been a long-term nonprofit goal and was developed and established by Karim Rahimi who is originally from Rojhellat of Kurdistan, and currently working as scientist at Harvard University in Boston, USA. He is a dedicated Geneticist and passionate about implementing science for public good (www.karimrahimi.com; www.zanyaran.org).

 

Additionally, Karim is an expert and advisor in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI-ML) and Natural Language processing (NLP) projects not only for better understanding the complexity of biological pathways, but also for serving his mother language which is Kurdish and all other languages in particular those which called low resources nowadays! He believes that every language is a precious heritage of humanity, deserving fair protection and preservation; they enrich each other through their unique expressions and the power of diversity, and any form of assimilation and discrimination that threatens their existence should be seriously opposed.

 

KurdAI has been created with a deep passion to enhance fair AI communities, and to promote equality and inclusivity. We are driven by the conviction that protecting non-English languages is essential to maintain the richness of humanity's collective vocabulary. This innovative platform embodies KurdAI commitment to language preservation and the vision for a more inclusive AI landscape.
